Energy Audit

An energy audit reveals the level of energy efficiency and sustainability of a property or organisation.

What is an Energy Audit?

This tool helps organisations learn about their use of energy.

The global effort for sustainability supported by the Paris Agreement is captured by the Spanish regulations, in particular Royal Decree 56/2016 of 12 February that incorporates the provisions of the Energy Efficiency Directive 2012/27/EU. These regulations establish the need to conduct energy audits.

An energy audit allows us to find operations within your business processes that can contribute to energy savings and efficiency, and optimise the building’s energy consumption.

Who needs it?

This is for entities, companies and corporate groups.

According to Spanish Royal Decree 56/2016 of 12 February, that incorporates the Energy Efficiency Directive 2012/27/EU, energy audits are required every 4 years from companies and consolidated corporate groups with over 250 workers or a turnover of over 50 million euros and a balance sheet of over 43 million euros, but not from micro-enterprises and SMEs.

How do we do it?

We apply tools and procedures recognised by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport for the Ecological Transition.

The Ministry provides apps and technical documents that have been recognised as the recommended procedures to rate a building’s energy efficiency. Depending on whether we are dealing with a new build property or an existing building, we will apply different tools, including LDER-CALENER (HULC), CE3, CE3X, CERMA, CYPETHERM HE Plus and SG SAVE.

1. Order

The client orders the services and accepts the quote. We will determine the scope depending on the complexity and variety of the facilities, the time frame and the surface area of the premises audited.

2. Pre-diagnosis

We will find out the most important energy specifications, and make a pre-diagnosis of the energy situation and operation of the facilities and the building envelope.

3. Inspection

We note down the data on site to have an X-ray of the facilities and their systems and processes. Once we have all these details, we can draw a clear and accurate conclusion on the real situation of the facilities as a whole and propose improvements and solutions.

4. Registration

We will report the Energy Efficiency Audit as foreseen in Appendix I of RD 56/2016.
